About the Role
A premier luxury safari lodge in Bloemfontein, Free State, is seeking a talented Pastry Chef to join their dynamic culinary team. This live-in role on a 6/2 work cycle offers the chance to create exquisite desserts and pastries in a unique, high-end safari environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, bake, and present a wide variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and confectionery to a consistently high standard.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to plan and execute daily menus, special events, and guest functions.
- Ensure quality control of all pastry products, maintaining the lodge’s standards of excellence.
- Manage pastry inventory, including ordering, storage, and stock rotation.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist in training junior kitchen staff and apprentices when required.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef in a high-volume or luxury hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, and modern dessert presentation.
- Creative flair and passion for innovation in pastry and dessert preparation.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Salary & Benefits
Salary is negotiable, dependent on experience, reporting just below the sous chef level. Live-in position provided.
