Job Summary
Description:
Hire Resolve`s client is currently seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Supervisor to join their mining company, located in Gauteng. As a Diesel Mechanic Supervisor in the mining industry, you will need to perform mechanical duties as well as supervise, guide and manage the team of mechanics working under you.
Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled mechanical repairs and installations.
- Diagnose, maintain, repair, and test diesel, petrol/gas vehicles, trucks, TMM, yellow plant machinery, generators, and stationary equipment.
- Identify mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools.
- Repair and maintain hydraulic systems in engines.
- Utilize welding, machining, and fitting techniques to replace or fix parts.
- Conduct fault finding and problem diagnosis.
- Liaise with managers and foremen about equipment needs.
- Oversee fleet and machinery maintenance, including breakdowns, repairs, and upgrades.
- Work overtime, respond to callouts, and handle breakdowns as needed.
- Ensure site housekeeping aligns with Health and Safety standards.
- Communicate equipment and spare requirements to managers.
- Manage stock and comply with internal inventory systems.
- Monitor and address equipment conditions to prevent further issues.
- Perform routine maintenance on vehicles, machinery, and the fleet.
- Adhere to the companys fleet management system.
- Plan, organize, and manage assigned tasks.
- Train and mentor team members when required.
- Lead and oversee the mechanical team and ensure accountability for their work.
- Attend mandatory training and wear PPE as required.
- Achieve fleet readiness targets and minimize breakdowns.
- Comply with client fleet and TMM requirements, including reporting.
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- N4 Certificate in Mechanical Engineering
- Diesel Mechanic Trade Test Certificate
- 5 years` experience as a Diesel Mechanic with a minimum of 3 years` supervisory/management experience.
- Valid Drivers` License
