Job purpose:

To ensure people and equipment are available to produce a quality product in line with safety standards and agreed customer requirements and deadlines. Support and foster culture of teamwork, lean manufacturing, standardised work and continuous improvement. Partner with cross functional teams within the organisation including Engineering, maintenance , finance, logistics and quality to meet production goals/targets.

Minimum qualification:

Diploma in Operations Management or related qualification

Preferred qualification:

Bachelors degree in operations management or related qualification

Experience:

8 – 10 years experience in a metal press/ stamping production and automotive manufacturing environment including 5+ years in a management role

TECHNICAL PRE-REQUISITE:

• Experience with stamping and forming machines, progression tools and presses
• Working knowledge of kanban system
• Work in Progress management
• Lean Manufacturing knowledge
• Automotive Metal Press/stamping production
• Manpower Planning and production planning
• Understands manufacturing processes, including equipment operation, material handling, and production scheduling.
• Familiar with safety protocols and regulatory requirements in a manufacturing environment, including knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and equipment operation licenses.
• Proficient in generating and interpreting production reports, including tracking attendance, output, downtime, and other key performance metrics.
• Competent in operating relevant machinery and equipment used in the production process,
• Basic understanding of equipment maintenance requirements and the ability to identify and report maintenance issues to the appropriate teams.
• Sound Employee and Industrial Relations knowledge
• Participate in projects where required.
• Basic business and financial acumen
• Knowledge of Microsoft applications, with intermediate Excel
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001, ITAF 16949

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure a philosophy of safety first (anzen) is built into all operational processes and manage the development and execution off all plans and activities
• Ensures adherence to quality standards and implements continuous improvement initiatives
• Conduct root cause analysis for defects and/or inefficiencies and implement corrective active
• Work closely with Engineering, Maintenance and Logistics to resolve bottlenecks
• Ensure effective SOPs to govern production
• Analyse and manage rework and reduce rejection rate
• Achieve volume targets in line with production plans and legal and compliance requirements
• Ensure production lines reached targeted efficiencies and resolve escalated problems (including checking and reducing delays)
• Work with maintenance to ensure the availability and efficient running of machines and equipment to ensure no delays or unplanned downtime.
• Ensure consumables are available to produce parts
• Track and analyse daily efficiencies , including weekly and monthly analysis and monitor machine availability against target
• Produce reports on production outputs performance metrics and efficiencies.
• Continually define, refine and realign business process to improve efficiencies and prevent losses in line with benchmarks
• Collaborate with other departments and take responsibility for escalated issued where necessary
• Drive compliance and regulatory and legal compliance internally as well as with external providers.
• Keep abreast and actively manage risks including but not limited to Safety, operational, financial, compliance , people and reputational risks
• Build and maintain relationships with customer to understand and anticipate production needs
• Participate in continuous improvement projects
• Champion a culture of continuous learning , growth and development for employees.
• Take responsibility for performance of direct reports focusing on all aspects of sound people management.
