About the Role
We are seeking a creative and skilled Demi Chef Pastry to join the culinary team, supporting the Pastry Chef and culinary brigade in producing exceptional pastries, desserts, and baked goods. The successful candidate will assist in daily production while maintaining quality, consistency, and hygiene standards, gaining hands-on experience in a high-volume luxury hotel environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in daily preparation of pastries, desserts, and baked goods
- Support the Pastry Chef and senior kitchen staff in menu planning, special events, and production schedules
- Ensure all products meet quality, portion, and presentation standards
- Maintain kitchen hygiene, storage, and food safety compliance
- Monitor ingredient usage and assist with inventory and stock management
Requirements
- Minimum 12 years experience in pastry kitchens of luxury hotels or fine dining establishments
- Knowledge of baking techniques, chocolate work, and plated desserts
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills
Qualifications
- Formal culinary or pastry qualification advantageous
- South African citizen with a valid ID
