About the Role
A permanent Maintenance Planner position is available in Cape Town, required to support a high-performance steel manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring plant uptime, preventative maintenance execution, shutdown planning, and technical documentation control within a heavy industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Review daily production and shift reports to track machine condition
- Conduct root cause analysis of stoppages
- Develop and manage electrical & mechanical maintenance schedules
- Control and report on shutdown planning and planned vs unplanned maintenance
- Support implementation and optimisation of ERP / Maintenance modules
- Produce 5th monthly trend analysis reports including man-hours, maintenance costs, revenue loss due to downtime, and critical spares status
- Establish and maintain technical library, drawing register (physical & electronic), document control procedures
- Provide technical advisory support to line management in accordance with company policies and best practices
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent
- Relevant tertiary qualification (Engineering / Maintenance / Technical discipline preferred)
- Minimum 5 years experience in Maintenance Planning within heavy industry
- Experience in steel, metallurgy, logistics, or manufacturing environments advantageous
- Advanced Computer Skills (CMMS / ERP essential)
- Strong report writing and analytical capability
Qualifications
- Valid Code 8 Drivers License
- High attention to detail and documentation control
- Traceable & contactable references
