Job Summary
Requirements Grade 12 (Tertiary Qualification would be advantageous) 3-5 Years of experience as an Assistant Estimator in Construction Valid Drivers License Own reliable transport to Head Office Duties and Responsibilities Roles and Responsibilities Programming Support Activity Analysis Assist in analysing project drawings and help outline the sequence of activities for each job, focusing on quantities and resource availability. Project Management Tools Help capture project processes and timelines using Microsoft Project or CCS, ensuring accurate tracking of progress and resource allocation. Cost Calculation Cost Data Collection Gather and organize data for cost calculations based on resources, production rates, project specifications, and anticipated wastage. Quantity Calculation Quantity Measurement Review project drawings and assist in calculating quantities for constructed items, ensuring accuracy in line with project specifications. Documentation Support Help compare measured quantities against scheduled quantities and prepare documentation for presentation to the tender committee. Contractual Arrangements Assist in Contract Review Support the review of contracts for compliance with project specifications and tender rules, identifying potential issues. Personnel Management Team Support Provide administrative support to the estimating team, assisting with day-to-day tasks and ensuring deadlines are met. Procurement Material Sourcing Assistance Assist in sourcing materials and subcontractors by requesting quotes and gathering necessary documentation. Follow-Up on Quotes Help follow up on quotes to ensure they meet specifications and support the negotiation process as needed. Tender Documentation Documentation Gathering Collect and organize all relevant documentation for tender submissions, liaising with various departments as required. Compile Returnables Assist in compiling returnable documentation and preparing contract documents for review. Administration Record Keeping Maintain accurate records of tender information and assist in transferring data to Contracts Managers if the tender is successful. Query Handling Address basic queries from Contracts Managers regarding estimates and calculations, escalating more complex issues as needed.
