About the Role
The Claims Negotiator role at MH Solutions involves managing and overseeing the claims function for various types of risks, including Plant All Risk, Contractors All Risk, Machinery Breakdown & Business Interruption, and Electronic Equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for attending to damage claims, liability, and SASRIA claims, as well as actively managing and organizing day-to-day operations to ensure the efficient registering, handling, and settling of claims.
Key Responsibilities
- Attending to own damage claims, liability, and SASRIA claims in respect of Plant All Risk, Contractors All Risk, Machinery Breakdown & Business Interruption, and Electronic Equipment
- Actively manage and oversee the start to end of the claims function
- Manage and organize day-to-day operations by establishing priorities to ensure the registering, handling, and settling of claims on the Company’s delegated authority
- Controlling of registers, compliance with SLAs, diary management, quantum, recoveries, salvage, and securing proper claims maintenance
- Assess the claims internally
- Ensure all technical aspects for claims settlement are adhered to
- Negotiate settlement of the claims with all relevant stakeholders
- Daily diary files to be extracted and dealt with (e.g. letters of demand, final notices, reminders, and follow-up assessor reports)
- Processing payments on the system: Registering claims with reinsurers/co-insurers companies, Facultative reinsurance & co-insurance recoveries, Monitor and periodically review estimates and Appointment investigators, assessors, loss adjusters, and other experts if necessary
- Negotiate discounts to reduce costs with repairers, service providers, and partners without compromising quality or harming client retention initiatives
- Attend to Third-party claims in terms of the Contractors Third Party Liability cover
- Signing off third-party releases and Third-Party recoveries
Requirements
- Completed LLB Degree is essential
- Admitted Attorney is essential
- Previous civil litigation experience is required
- Short-term Insurance experience will be an advantage
