About the Role

Our client in the Commercial Asset Finance Industry is looking for a Credit Manager to join their team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining credit models, as well as leading the design of credit automation systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of credit models, scorecards, and analytics tools
  • Analyse and integrate data to refine credit decisioning systems, ensuring they align with industry best practices and regulatory standards
  • Drive automation initiatives to streamline credit evaluation and approval processes
  • Make credit recommendations and approve credit applications within authorized mandate levels, ensuring the placement of quality assets
  • Implement responsible lending practices to minimize risk and ensure compliance
  • Assess and manage credit risk across new and existing client portfolios
  • Conduct thorough credit assessments to ensure the acquisition of high-quality assets while mitigating potential risks
  • Monitor credit performance and provide insights to adjust risk parameters as necessary
  • Understand and anticipate client needs, providing tailored credit solutions to support their financial goals
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, offering proactive and innovative solutions within agreed turnaround times
  • Work closely with Sales, Credit Committee, Finance, and Operations teams to optimize credit models for better performance and compliance
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to address any challenges in credit assessment, approval, or risk management
  • Develop and maintain reports to track credit performance, model accuracy, and risk metrics
  • Present insights and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders, supporting strategic decision-making
  • Ensure all credit operations comply with internal policies and external regulations
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging best practices to continuously refine credit strategies

Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • NQF Level 7 or Higher in a Financial or Banking related field essential
  • CIMA, Credit management degree or equivalent will be advantageous
  • 2-5 years’ experience in a credit management environment, preferably in commercial finance
  • Experience managing teams and fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment
