About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Product Applications Technologist to join our team in Cape Town. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing new products and solutions for our clients across the Western Cape region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop plan of action based on request form received from NPD
- Liaise with Sales Representatives and NPD regarding relevant requirement potentially omitted by clients
- Create rough outline of recipe
- Check all required parts and ingredients necessary are in stock
- Liaise with Product Applications Manager for ingredient orders
- Assemble machine(s) to be used in testing
- Making product mix, running product mix on relevant equipment
- Liaise with NPD / Product Applications Manager, the trial outcome
- Report concerns to Product Applications Manager
- Complete detailed product report on trials
- Maintain database
- Evaluate meat ingredients (particle size, binding, water)
- Customer Support & Machine Installations (Alginate)
- TIC equipment installations
- Product trials for customers
Requirements
- Bachelors/ Masters in Food Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or Food Science
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the meat industry
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle
- Willingness to travel to customers in the Western Cape area
- Meat product development & application knowledge
- Experience with processing technology
- Meat industry exposure / experience
- Processing equipment knowledge
- High sensitivity to sensory attributes
- Project management exposure
- Presentation skills
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications in Food Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or Food Science (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.)
