About the Role
SA Metal is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Scale Buyer to join their team at the Montague Gardens Branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting scrap metal, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that you thoroughly inspect scrap metal to be purchased and display same openly for photographing
- Ensure that the requirements of the Second-hand Goods Act are complied with when buying by accurately recording all information required under the Act
- Accurately weigh customers’ metals for purchase
- Sorting and grading of ferrous and non-ferrous material
- Identifying stolen and inferior material and report same to management immediately
- Accurately updating customer information
- Ensure metal purchased is secured immediately after purchased and not re-purchased
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
- Computer proficiency: packages required: MS Word, Excel
- Good numeracy skills
- Able to liaise professionally with customers, suppliers & colleagues
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work quickly and under pressure
- An excellent knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals
Qualifications
- Completed Grade 12 or equivalent
