About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Centurion: DTP Designer to join our team in large-format printing/design. As a key member of our prepress department, you will be responsible for preparing and finalizing artwork for production, ensuring color fidelity across various substrates, and collaborating with production teams to deliver high-quality prints.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and finalize large-format artwork from client files or internal designs to meet production specifications.
- Translate design files into print-ready formats: correct image resolution, color profiles, bleed, trim, crop marks, and safe areas for large-scale output.
- Convert and assemble multi-panel files for tiled printing, seams, and overlaps; account for stretch/warp on flexible materials.
- Manage color workflows: apply ICC profiles, perform soft-proofing, and work with print operators to ensure color fidelity across substrates (vinyl, fabric, PVC, mesh, backlit film).
- Preflight files: check fonts, links, vector quality, file integrity, and identify potential print issues; correct or communicate fixes to clients/designers.
- Resize, re-layout, and adapt artwork for different formats while maintaining brand consistency and image quality.
- Raster/vector conversion, image retouching, masking, and large-file optimization to balance quality and RIP performance.
- Create dielines, templates, and technical drawings for cutting, finishing, and installation where required.
- Liaise with production (RIP operators, cutters, laminators, installers) to clarify specifications and troubleshoot on-press issues.
- Maintain accurate production documentation, file naming conventions, version control, and archiving.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and material handling procedures in print environment.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of experience in DTP or prepress, with demonstrable work in large-format/wide-format printing.
- Strong portfolio of large-format projects (banners, vehicle graphics, displays, exhibition systems), trailer side curtains a bonus.
- Formal qualification in graphic design, visual communication, print production, or equivalent is preferred.
