Job Description
- Duties and Responsibilities – Electrician (Food Manufacturing)
- Electrical Maintenance & Repairs
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, wiring, control panels, motors, drives, and switchgear.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production and packaging equipment.
- Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
- Diagnose faults using electrical testing equipment and technical drawings.
- Production Equipment Support
- Maintain electrical components of food processing machinery such as:
- Conveyors
- Mixers
- Ovens
- Fillers
- Packaging and labelling machines
- Assist with machine changeovers, upgrades, and commissioning of new equipment.
- Support production teams during start-ups and shutdowns.
- Compliance & Food Safety
- Ensure all electrical work complies with:
- Local electrical regulations and standards
- Food safety requirements (HACCP, GMP, ISO, FSSC, etc.)
- Maintain hygienic electrical installations suitable for food-grade environments.
- Prevent contamination risks by ensuring enclosures, wiring, and fittings are properly sealed and cleanable.
- Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE)
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Lockout/tagout equipment before performing maintenance.
- Identify electrical hazards and report unsafe conditions.
- Use appropriate PPE at all times.
