About the Role

Fouche & Co Recruitment is seeking an experienced Factory Operations Manager to oversee the production of clothing in our manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in garment construction, fabric handling, and industrial manufacturing processes. They will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, ensuring quality and efficiency, and driving productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations breakdown and production flow within the manufacturing environment
  • Balance machine lines and operator workflows to achieve optimal efficiency
  • Implement production schedules and ensure daily output targets are met
  • Troubleshoot production challenges including fabric handling, machine allocation, and operator performance
  • Ensure correct handling and construction of garments across all styles, including complex items
  • Provide technical guidance on stitching techniques, finishing requirements, and garment specifications
  • Oversee sample development and ensure production garments align with approved samples
  • Supervise quality checks throughout production to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Identify defects early and implement corrective actions
  • Liaise with Patternmaking, Cutting Room, CMT, Finishing, Procurement, and Dispatch departments
  • Monitor raw material readiness and ensure components are available before production
  • Communicate technical updates, style changes, and priorities across departments
  • Lead and motivate production staff, supervisors, and machinists
  • Conduct training on new styles, techniques, and fabric handling
  • Maintain discipline, manage attendance, and drive productivity
  • Enforce Health & Safety standards
  • Track production performance, efficiencies, and output levels
  • Provide daily/weekly reports to management
  • Assist with cost control, wastage reduction, and resource optimisation

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in clothing manufacturing management or factory supervision
  • Strong understanding of garment construction and fabric handling
  • Proven experience producing complex garments such as lined jackets, structured outerwear, and tailored pieces
  • Excellent leadership and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of sewing machinery, production balancing, and industrial manufacturing processes
