Job Title: Lead Structural Engineer

Location: Durban, South Africa

Job overview:
Hire Resolve is currently seeking a highly experienced Lead Structural Engineer to join our client’s team in Durban. The Lead Structural Engineer is accountable for overseeing the structural engineering tasks involving concrete and steel structures in multi-level buildings, industrial plants, and water retaining structures. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide guidance, support, supervision, and leadership to the structural team situated in the Durban office.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing, maintaining, enhancing, and overseeing the structural engineering tools, calculations, or software used in the Company’s structural engineering activities.
  • Crafting, in collaboration with the Divisional Manager, a marketing and growth strategy for the division that aligns with the overall regional budgets and strategic growth targets.
  • Managing projects by coordinating and optimizing the utilization of divisional resources to meet profit targets, as well as overseeing all financial aspects of divisional structural projects, including invoicing, forecasting, and debtor control.
  • Ensuring that all structural projects within the Division comply with the Quality Management System.
  • Facilitating the growth and professional development of junior staff through mentorship.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BSc/BEng) in Civil/Structural Engineering or related qualification.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the field of structural engineering specifically in structural concrete, steelwork designs, industrial plants and water structures
  • Possess a detailed understanding of engineering activities required for consulting, engineering services, EPCM and EPC contracts.
  • Understanding of other engineering disciplines including process, civil, structural, instrumentation and electrical
  • Experience with compilation and submission of tenders and proposals for procurement
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team.
  • Technical skills: MS Office, CAD, 3D modelling
