Tongaat Hulett runs several business applications, which are utilised for operations and reporting. A critical aspect of ensuring the systems function as prescribed is credible and accurate Master data. The purpose of this role is therefore to guide the business in Master data design and policies, and thereafter to manage, maintain, and provide oversight of the master data. In addition, the incumbent will be required to assist the business in creating reports to utilise the data in our systems. The primary application to be used in this position will be SAP, but the Master Data role will extend to other systems where integration with SAP is necessary. The position is based at the ICT offices in Tongaat, although the scope of this position includes all operating entities of the company, requiring the applicant to communicate with the various parties on a regular basis and involving occasional travel to the other operating locations. Roles & Responsibilities Creation, maintenance, and management of master data, most notably relating to, but not limited to, materials in the SAP ECC system. Creation of policies and procedures to align Master Data management across the business. Regular checking of Master Data to ensure proper categorisation in line with criteria. Assist in setting up new Master Data models/groups in SAP to ensure new Master Data categorisations are in line with designed procedures. Monitoring and actioning requests from users for Master Data and fault-finding problems in the system relating to Master Data within the SAP or related systems. Training of staff assigned to create Master Data to ensure correct procedures are followed. Assist in the development of reports where required. Qualifications, Competencies & Experience B. Com Accounting or other equivalent and relevant degree from an accredited institution. 3 years experience in working with ERP systems. Strong Microsoft Excel experience. A sound understanding of accounting principles and the impact of Master Data on SAP financial postings. Good analytical and problem-solving capabilities, ability to work within a team or individually, good interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, efficiency & ability to work under pressure. A knowledge of the sugar industry, and in particular the materials used in either production, sales, or plant maintenance would be an advantage. Ability to work with data to understand the interconnection between various data points and interpret the implication thereof. A strong understanding of the SAP Master Data components and how they relate to transactions within the various modules of SAP. Closing date : Monday, 3 March 2025.
