Kendrick Recruitment is recruiting a Meetings & Events Sales Manager for a luxury 5-star boutique hotel based in Durban North. This role is ideal for a commercially driven hospitality professional who thrives in both sales and detailed event planning, with a particular strength in conferences, events, and weddings.
Purpose of the Role
To drive profitable growth across meetings, conferences, events, and weddings, while acting as the single point of contact for clients and wedding couples from initial enquiry through to final handover to operations. The role combines proactive sales, relationship management, comprehensive pre-event planning, and structured operational handovers.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development

Proactively source and convert meetings, conferences, events, and wedding enquiries

Manage direct wedding enquiries, working closely with couples from initial enquiry to confirmation

Build and maintain relationships with corporates, NGOs, government departments, facilitators, planners, and wedding service providers

Conduct site inspections and represent the property professionally

Manage all enquiries and RFPs end-to-end
Pre-Event & Pre-Wedding Planning

Act as the single point of contact for corporate clients and wedding couples

Own all pre-event and pre-wedding planning and coordination, including:

Function and wedding sheets

Schedules and timelines
-
Guest room allocations
-
Catering and beverage requirements

AV, dcor, and special requests

Ensure all events and weddings are fully scoped, costed, and confirmed in advance

Deliver a clear, documented handover to the operations team to ensure seamless execution
Pipeline, Revenue & Reporting

Maintain a forward-looking sales pipeline across all market segments

Achieve agreed revenue, room-night, and profitability targets
-
Track enquiry-to-conversion ratios and repeat business

Provide regular performance and revenue reporting to senior management
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience

Proven experience in hospitality sales, conferencing, events, or wedding sales

Direct experience working with wedding couples is a strong advantage

An established professional network within the corporate, events, or wedding industry would be beneficial
