About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Plate Mounter to join our team at PLS STAFFING in Durban. As a Plate Mounter, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate application of plates to cylinders/sleeves using mounting machines, while also maintaining equipment and working closely with press operators.
Key Responsibilities
- Precision Mounting: Accurately apply plates to cylinders/sleeves using mounting machines to ensure proper registration and alignment.
- Job Preparation: Review job orders/tickets to identify correct plates, sleeves, and tape specifications.
- Quality Control: Inspect plates for defects (e.g., scratches, incorrect thickness) and verify mounting accuracy to meet quality standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean, maintain, and service mounting machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Operational Support: Work with press operators to minimize downtime, manage plate inventory, and adhere to production schedules.

- Attention to Detail: High level of precision to ensure perfect registration.
- Technical Skills: Ability to operate mounting equipment and understand complex, precise measurements.
- Basic Math & Literacy: Strong reading comprehension for job specifications and mathematical skills for calculations.

- Vision: Excellent close-up vision, color vision, and depth perception.
- Experience: Previous experience in a printing or manufacturing environment, particularly with flexographic equipment, is usually required.
