About the Role

Hire Resolve’s client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team based in Durban. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled finance professional to contribute to the company’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with South African regulations and supporting business growth. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial reporting, strategic financial planning, and cost control to help drive the success of the business in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to senior management.
  • Manage general ledger integrity and oversee reconciliations.
  • Develop and monitor budgets in line with company objectives.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting and financial planning.
  • Conduct cost control and profitability analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, SARS, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax submissions.
  • Liaise with auditors and regulatory agencies.
  • Supervise creditors, debtors, and credit control to maintain healthy cash flow.
  • Review supplier and customer reconciliations.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with statutory deductions and labor laws.
  • Support cost analysis and payroll reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and production teams to track costs and ensure accurate costing.
  • Identify opportunities for cost-saving without compromising quality.
  • Implement improvements in ERP systems and optimize accounting processes.
  • Train and mentor junior finance staff on best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CA(SA), CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
  • 5-7 years of accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing or FMCG sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting and financial controls.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Pastel, SAP).
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
  • Familiarity with IFRS and South African tax laws.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven leadership ability and experience mentoring a team.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ethical, reliable, and trustworthy with confidential information.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
