East London: Cut & Bend Artisan

Job Description

Skilled tradespeople who shape metal or other materials by cutting them and then bending them to form new shapes. This can involve traditional hand-forming or modern techniques like laser cutting for precision. Read and interpret fabrication drawings, bar bending schedules (BBS), and work instructions. Measure, mark, cut, and bend rebar or steel rods using hand tools, power tools, or bending machines. Verify dimensions and angles to ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications. Maintain proper identification, bundling, and labelling of cut and bent steel. Operate machinery such as rebar cutters, bending machines, and shears safely and efficiently. Perform quality checks to ensure all pieces meet required tolerances. Report any equipment malfunctions, material shortages, or defects to the supervisor. Maintain a clean and safe working area in compliance with occupational health and safety standards. Assist in loading, unloading, and organizing fabricated materials for delivery or site use.
