Eastern Cape: Diesel Mechanic posted by Staff Solutions

Key Responsibilities:

• Wear the correct PPE and adhere to all health and safety protocols at all times
• Comply with internal policies and external regulatory standards
• Diagnose, repair, and service diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicles
• Perform overhauls on engines, gearboxes, and differentials to OEM specifications
• Carry out basic auto-electrical repairs including diagnostics, wiring, alternator, and battery systems
• Use diagnostic tools (e.g., OBD scanners, multimeters) for precise fault-finding
• Repair and maintain hydraulic systems, including cylinder repairs and hose crimping
• Execute welding and fabrication tasks as required for structural and mechanical repair
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on vehicles and machinery
• Complete accurate job cards, service logs, checklists, and reports
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior workshop staff
• Promote cost-effective and sustainable repair solutions
• Maintain a clean and orderly workspace after every job
• Demonstrate professional conduct, teamwork, and collaboration in daily operations
• Attend toolbox talks and participate in daily briefings and operational meetings
• Support additional workshop tasks as required on a temporary or ad hoc basis

Minimum Requirements:

• Qualified Red Seal Diesel Mechanic
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar role
• Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
• Willingness to work shifts, be on standby, and work overtime when required
• Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience working on earthmoving equipment
