About the Role

A leading steel manufacturing company situated in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, is urgently seeking an experienced Millwright to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our steel production facilities, utilizing their technical expertise to troubleshoot and maintain equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Accurate troubleshooting using appropriate tools and parts required to rectify problems.
Assembly and testing of equipment to ensure correct installation and performance.
Routine and scheduled inspections of equipment during production changeovers.
Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with relevant safe working procedures.
Maintenance tasks are carried out effectively, timeously, and safely.
Maintaining machine downtime to an acceptable level.
Ensuring strategic spares are kept.
Completing all requests and recording them accurately.
Instructing contractors on work to be carried out and verifying outcomes.
Achieving a high standard of housekeeping in designated areas.
Participating fully in safety and housekeeping operations.
Reporting unsafe conditions or acts immediately.

Requirements

Millwright Trade Test: Mechanical and Electrical (Qualified artisan)
At least four years practical Millwright experience
Working experience and knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, VSDs, and PLC.
Working experience and knowledge of electric melting furnaces would be advantageous.
