About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join their team as a Dispensary Support. This Fixed Term position will equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a registered Basic Pharmacist Assistant, promoting quality in the pharmaceutical environment. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with pharmacists to provide excellent customer service and support the daily operations of the dispensary.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances.
- Help with compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to a formula and Standard Operating Procedures approved by the responsible pharmacist.
- Unpack and merchandise stock, clean dispensary and OTC shelves, and perform other duties assigned to them by the Dispensary Manager.
- Accurately interpret scripts and act in a professional and responsible manner within legal requirements in accordance with the South African Pharmaceutical Council.
- Ensure accurate picking / packing / labelling and checking of medication and be aware of common dosages as well as important drug interactions.
- Assist in the control of stock (manage cleanliness and packing organisation of shelves and medicine expiry dates).
- Follow up with patients regarding script tracking reports as requested by the Dispensary Manager and follow up appointments.
- Provide information to individuals to promote health and assist with scheme authorization of chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication.
Requirements
- Grade 12 Matric or a Senior Certificate with Pure Mathematics 50%, Life Science, and/or Physical Science obtained at least an average of 50%.
- Proficiency test assessing capability to register with the Pharmacy Council as a learner basic assistant.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead by example.

- Completed Grade 12 Matric or Senior Certificate.
- Completed proficiency test for registration with the Pharmacy Council as a learner basic assistant.
