Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the full accounting function, including capturing, processing, trial balancing, and reconciling transactions.
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and reports.
• Assist with monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Handle and ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE, UIF, and other statutory returns in line with SARS requirements.
• Oversee cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting.

• Maintain and improve internal financial controls and processes.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and legislation.

Requirements:

• Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles.
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in an accounting role, preferably within the manufacturing or FMCG sector.
• Strong knowledge of South African tax laws and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Pastel) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Hands-on approach with a willingness to get into the detail.

Responsibilities

• Accurately record daily financial transactions, including sales, purchases, and payments.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including issuing invoices, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts.
• Maintain an up-to-date cash flow forecast and oversee cash flow management.
• Handle foreign exchange contracts and prepare monthly VAT returns.
• Perform regular bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for business planning and performance tracking.
• Maintain organized and accurate financial records for audits and tax purposes.
• Lead and manage a small finance team, setting clear objectives, conducting performance reviews, and fostering collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong working knowledge of Pastel Partner (essential).
• Completion of accounting articles will be advantageous.
• Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy in data processing.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, able to handle multiple priorities.
• Effective communicator with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of local accounting standards and statutory compliance.
