• Red Seal Trade Test: Boilermaker (Section 13 or 26D recognised by the Department of Higher Education & Training)
• Experience: 3 – 6 years post-trade in a heavy manufacturing, fabrication, or engineering environment
• Must be South African or a Perm Resident of South Africa
• Education: N3 or equivalent in Mechanical / Fabrication Engineering
• Valid Driver’s Licence and Own Transport advantageous
• Safety Training: Valid SHE, Confined Space, and Working at Heights certificates (advantageous)
• Must be fit to work
• Must be able to work shifts day or night Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and isometric layouts.
• Fabricate, assemble, and install steel components, structural supports, and pressure vessels.
• Conduct repairs, welding, and maintenance on mechanical and structural equipment.
• Perform cutting, bending, rolling, and fitting of steel plate, channel, and tubing.
• Inspect and test fabricated assemblies for accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Maintain plant and workshop equipment in accordance with planned maintenance schedules.
• Work closely with welders, fitters, and mechanical teams to ensure timely project completion.
• Comply with all safety, health, and environmental standards within the workshop and plant.
• Support shutdown and project work as required within the plant or external client sites.

Technical Competencies:

• Skilled in MIG, TIG, and Arc Welding (CO and Stick)
• Proficient in platework, pipework, and structural fabrication
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and fabrication schematics
• Knowledge of material properties, tolerances, and welding procedures
• Familiarity with plant maintenance, conveyor systems, tanks, silos, pressure vessels, etc.
• Basic knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics (advantageous)
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities

Key Responsibilities

• Perform cutting, bending, rolling, and welding of steel using appropriate tools and machinery.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure components meet design and dimensional accuracy standards.
• Repair, maintain, and modify existing steel structures and plant equipment when required.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations within the workshop.
• Collaborate with engineers, welders, and fitters to ensure efficient workflow and project completion.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
• Recognized Trade Test Certificate as a Boilermaker (Red Seal).
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Boilermaker in a manufacturing, mining, or heavy engineering environment.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication and mechanical drawings accurately.
• Proficiency in various welding techniques (GMAW, SMAW, FCAW).
• Strong understanding of steel grades, tolerances, and fabrication standards.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and quality control systems.
