About the Role
We are seeking a Data Analyst – Financial Services and Trade to join our team at Optim-G Sourcing in Gauteng. As a key member of our financial services division, you will be responsible for analyzing data to inform business decisions and drive growth. You will work closely with our IT team to ensure the integrity and availability of data, and develop data engineering skills to optimize data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop compelling insights using Power BI to communicate findings to stakeholders;
- Compile statistical data from Financial Services and Trade divisions and disseminate it regularly to relevant parties;
- Identify trends, patterns, and optimization opportunities in sales and marketing data;
- Conduct research on industry standards and ensure correct measurement standards are used;
- Extract data from various sources, including MySQL, MS SQL, and PostgreSQL databases;
- Clean and process data prior to ensuring accuracy and consistency;
- Assist with database administration, including workflow optimization and security;
- Collaborate with the IT team to maintain data integrity and availability;
- Develop data engineering skills, such as data pipeline development and ETL processes (Extract, Transform, Load);
- Optimize data collection and retrieval for effectiveness;
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including Sales, Marketing, and IT, to gather data requirements and provide data-driven insights.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 qualification;
- Relevant tertiary qualification with a focus on Business/Finance/Economics or related field; or 3 years of experience in the Credit/Bank/Financial industry;
- Or 3 years of experience in VVPB (Kleinhandel/FMCG) industry.
- Understanding of data analysis concepts is required;
- Data analysis and visualization certification or proven 3 years of experience in data analysis and visualization in the Credit/Bank/Financial industry or VVPB (Kleinhandel/FMCG) industry;
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office;
- Strong knowledge of Power BI/Tableau or other data visualization instruments is required;
- Experience with SQL and databases such as MySQL, MS SQL, and PostgreSQL is advantageous;
- Knowledge of data engineering concepts and tools is beneficial;
- Familiarity with Python is advantageous;
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills are required;
- Excellent communication skills to present complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders;
- Strong interpersonal and inter-personal skills;
- Detail-oriented, able to work independently, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
- Proactive approach to identifying and addressing data-related issues.
