Job Summary
Key
Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to South African tax laws, accounting standards, and financial policies.
- Prepare and file Income Tax and VAT returns.
- Handle Requests for Information and Tax Audits conducted by SARS.
- Assist with reporting requirements for the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) and Statistics South Africa.
- Stay informed about changes in tax regulations and implement necessary adjustments.
- Communicate with third-party stakeholders such as SARS, FIC, Stats SA, external auditors, and consultants.
- Provide support to internal stakeholders on tax-related issues and resolve complex tax matters.
- Work closely with the Group Tax team.
- Calculate and document transfer pricing and thin capitalisation.
- Ensure compliance with documentation requirements for transfer-pricing and thin capitalisation.
- Collaborate with Group Tax and the Chief Accountant on various tax issues.
- Monitor thin capitalisation and coordinate on dividend payments and loans.
- Manage tax-related financial statement items and perform balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensure reporting aligns with relevant IFRS guidelines and communicate changes to the local business.
- Assist the Chief Accountant in external audits and finalising Annual Financial Statements.
- Undertake any additional duties as assigned by your manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Registered Tax Practitioner.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the tax space
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- Income Tax Act, 58 of 1962
- Value-Added Tax Act, 89 of 1991
- Customs and Excise Act, 91 of 1964
- Tax Administration Act, 28 of 2011
- Good understanding of:
- International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) with a focus on tax-related standards
- Financial Intelligence Centre Act, 38 of 2001
