Job Description
- Grade 12
- BSc Computer Science or equivalent qualification (advantageous)
- Proven SQL code creation experience | Proven process analysis experience
- Systems understanding and test experience
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of BI development | Experience in SQL / BI solution design and development | Familiarity with integration protocols
- Experience in delivering integrations (internal and external)
- Understanding of business operations and processes
Product Experience:
- Microsoft SQL Server 2012, 2019, 2022: 5–10 years
- SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS): 3–5 years
- SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS): 3–5 years
- SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS – Tabular): Beneficial
- Microsoft Power BI (On-premises / Premium): Beneficial
Key Responsibilities
- Database Administration and Maintenance
- Oversee installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of SQL Server instances.
- Apply patching, updates, and conduct regular health checks.
- Performance Tuning and Optimization
- Monitor database performance and identify bottlenecks.
- Implement solutions such as index optimization, query tuning, and capacity planning.
- High Availability and Disaster Recovery
- Design, implement, and manage high availability solutions (AlwaysOn, replication, log shipping).
- Conduct backups, restores, and recovery plan testing | Security and Compliance
- Enforce database security policies | Manage user access and permissions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant data security standards and regulations.
- Collaboration and Support | Work closely with development, infrastructure, and IT teams.
- Support application development, data integration, and system upgrades.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution
- Proactively identify and resolve database-related incidents.
- Maintain performance within agreed SLAs | Mentorship and Guidance
- Provide technical guidance to junior DBAs and team members | Strategic Planning
- Contribute to database architecture strategies.
- Align database management practices with business objectives and technology roadmaps.
Salary offer: R45K – R60K
