Job Opportunity: Junior Group Accountant

Key
Responsibilities:
- Financial Records Management:
- Prepare and maintain financial records, including general ledgers and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of reports and records.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Budgeting and Analysis:
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis.
- Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and submit tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management and external stakeholders.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams, such as underwriters, claims, and operations, to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
- Provide financial advice and guidance to management, aiding in informed decision-making processes.
- Continuous Learning:
- Stay updated on accounting principles, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Ad-Hoc
Duties:
- Perform any other tasks as required by your direct manager.
Minimum
Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree is advantageous – preferably in Accounting or related fields.
- Experience:
- 1+ years of relevant experience within the financial sector.
- Completed SAIPA/SAICA Articles advantageous.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of financial principles and practices.
- Experience with VAT is advantageous.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-motivated and able to manage tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Xero and MS Office Suite is preferred).
