About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist to join our team at our Brakpan Carnival store. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care and ensuring the accurate dispensing of medicines to our customers. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and supporting our business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provision of pharmaceutical care by taking responsibility for patients’ medicine-related needs and being accountable for meeting those needs
- Evaluation of a patient’s medicine-related needs by determining the indication, safety, and effectiveness of the therapy
- Dispensing of any medicine or scheduled substance on the prescription of a person authorized to prescribe medicine
- Signing off and checking of all prescriptions prepared by an assistant or intern and accepting accountability for the correctness thereof as per GPP 2.7.1.2.1.f
- Furnishing of information and advice to any person with regard to the use of medicine
- Determining patient compliance with the therapy, and follow-up to ensure that the patient’s medicine-related needs are being met
- The provision of pharmacist-initiated therapy
- Compounding, manipulation, preparation, or packaging of any medicine or scheduled substance, or the supervision thereof
- The manufacturing of any medicine or scheduled substance, or supervision thereof
- Purchasing, acquiring, importing, keeping, possessing, using, releasing, storage, packaging, re-packaging, supplying, or selling of any medicine or scheduled substance, or supervision thereof
- Application for the registration of a medicine in accordance with the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act
- Acts specially pertaining to the profession of a pharmacist as prescribed above
- Formulation of any medicine for the purposes of registration as a medicine
- Distribution of any medicine or scheduled substance
- Repackaging of medicines
- Initiation and conducting of pharmaceutical research and development
- Promotion of public health
Requirements
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in Pharmaceutical or retail pharmacy experience
- Computer literate with MS Office skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BPharm) or equivalent qualification
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
