About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team, responsible for maintaining our fleet of vehicles and ensuring their optimal performance. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of the reserves fleet of vehicles, including preventative and ad hoc maintenance
  • Ordering of parts and ensuring their timely delivery
  • Maintenance of a neat and organized workshop with an adequate stock of frequently used spares
  • Supervision and training of workshop staff
  • Contribution towards sustainability goals by constantly seeking ways to make vehicle and workshop operations more environmentally friendly
  • Repairs and maintenance of gate motors and solar and electrical water pumps
  • Effective financial management of workshop operations through the administration and recording of orders, stock control and working within agreed budgets
  • Record-keeping of vehicle service schedules and other related administrative tasks
  • Ensuring quality and care of workshop equipment and products in accordance with standard operating procedures

Requirements

Recognized qualification as a diesel mechanic

Minimum 3 years of experience working on diesel vehicles

Experience in general maintenance of water pumps and other machinery

Experience in a supervisory/people management role

Passion for vehicles

General ability to problem-solve and fix things

Keen attention to detail

Proficient in English and Afrikaans

Excellent organizational skills

Excellent communication skills

Computer literacy
