Job Description
- National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (advantageous).
- Sales, Marketing, or Business qualification (beneficial).
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in technical sales within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
- Direct experience selling industrial pumps (centrifugal, slurry, dewatering, dieseldriven, submersible, etc.) highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of mining operations, including dewatering, slurry transport, and process water systems.
- Ability to read technical drawings and pump curves.
- Knowledge of pump sizing, NPSH, materials of construction, and mining application requirements.
- Familiarity with selfpriming diesel pump sets mounted on skids or trailers.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Identify, target, and secure new mining clients (surface and underground operations).
- Conduct site visits to assess application conditions and propose suitable pump solutions.
- Prepare and deliver quotations, tenders, and proposals aligned with client specifications.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
Customer Relationship Management
- Maintain strong relationships with mine engineers, project managers, procurement teams, and consulting houses.
- Provide postsales support, resolve customer issues, and ensure overall client satisfaction.
- Conduct regular account reviews and monitor ongoing projects.
Technical Expertise
- Recommend pump models, materials, and configurations suitable for mining conditions (abrasive slurries, corrosive fluids, highpressure dewatering, diesel-driven selfpriming pump sets, trailer/skid units, etc.).
- Present product training to customers and distributors.
Market Intelligence
- Continuously research competitor offerings, pricing, and market trends.
- Identify opportunities for product improvements and new market segments.
- Provide periodic sales forecasts and market reports to management.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain an updated CRM database of leads, opportunities, and sales activities.
- Prepare weekly/monthly sales reports.
- Ensure compliance with mining site safety protocols and company SHEQ policies.
Working Conditions
- Office-based with frequent travel to mines and industrial sites.
- Exposure to harsh environmental conditions at mining operations.
- Must comply with all mining safety requirements (medical fitness, PPE, inductions).
