Production Manager (Print & Manufacturing Operations)

Location: Gezina, Pretoria
Position Type: Full-Time | On-Site
Salary: R18,000 R25,000 per month (depending on experience)

About the Opportunity

A busy print, signage, and manufacturing production facility in Pretoria is seeking a hands-on Production Manager to take ownership of day-to-day production operations.

This is a leadership role on a high-output production floor, responsible for planning workflow, supervising production staff, ensuring quality standards, and delivering jobs on time.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining production discipline, workflow efficiency, and consistent product quality.

This role suits someone who enjoys managing people, solving operational challenges, and improving production processes.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Workflow Management

  • Build and execute daily and weekly production schedules.
  • Ensure jobs are fully prepared before entering production.
  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and enforce dispatch deadlines.
  • Coordinate with client services and sales teams on job priorities.

Production Floor Leadership

  • Supervise production staff and ensure productivity targets are met.
  • Allocate labour according to workflow requirements.
  • Conduct daily team briefings and operational reviews.
  • Maintain discipline and accountability across the production floor.

Quality Control

  • Implement and enforce strict quality assurance procedures.
  • Conduct inspections at key production stages.
  • Reduce rework, spoilage, and production errors.

Operational Efficiency

  • Identify bottlenecks and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Track downtime and equipment performance.
  • Monitor material usage and waste.

Reporting

Prepare regular reports on:

  • Production output vs targets
  • Delivery performance
  • Waste and reprints
  • Equipment downtime
  • Production backlog

Requirements

  • 37+ years experience in production management.
  • Background in printing, signage, packaging, or manufacturing environments.
  • Proven ability to manage production scheduling and staff performance.
  • Strong operational leadership and problem-solving skills.

Technical Skills

  • Strong Excel / Google Sheets reporting capability
  • Experience with production workflow systems or job-ticketing software
