Job Description
- Set up, operate, and maintain vertical boring machines according to work orders and engineering drawings.
- Perform precision turning and machining of components to required tolerances.
- Inspect and measure components using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues on vertical boring machines.
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and production standards.
- Maintain accurate production and maintenance records.
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to optimize machining processes.
Requirements:
- Completed relevant trade qualification (e.g., Fitting & Turning / Mechanical Engineering trade).
- Minimum 5–7 years’ experience on vertical boring machines.
- Strong knowledge of machining principles, tooling, and measurement techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures in a workshop environment.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with CNC vertical boring machines is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
