About the Role
MECS Africa is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to join our team as a SHERQ expert. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining our SHERQ management systems, leading incident investigations, and engaging with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance in our high-risk environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 or equivalent SHERQ management systems.
- Lead incident investigations, risk assessments, and audit programmes.
- Engage with regulatory authorities and manage compliance in complex operational environments.
- Drive culture change and behavioural safety initiatives.
- Manage teams and influence at all levels to achieve SHERQ goals.
Requirements
- Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in SHERQ / HSE management in a high-risk environment (e.g. mining, manufacturing, explosives, petrochemical or similar).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior or management role with responsibility for SHERQ strategy, systems and teams.
- Proven experience in implementing and maintaining SHERQ management systems (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 or equivalent).
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, Quality, Engineering or related field (e.g. BTech / BSc / National Diploma).
- Recognised SHERQ / HSE professional certifications or training (e.g. SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, ISO Lead Auditor, Risk Management).
