(No knowledge of Japanese is required to apply). AIM: The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme is designed to promote mutual understanding between Japan and South Africa and to intensify English language education in Japan. ROLE FUNCTION: Participants will be employed as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) in public elementary, junior high and high schools. ALTs support Japanese English teachers, assist with the preparation of supplementary teaching materials and promote cultural exchange. CONDITIONS: Contracts will be for one year (renewable up to 5 years). Salary, travel and visa expenses will be paid by the contracting organization in Japan.
