About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Diesel Technician to join our team at The Talent Room. As a key member of our workshop, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults on diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, and hydraulic systems. Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, and hydraulic systems
- Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on trucks, buses, agricultural machinery, and construction equipment
- Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify faults and accurately complete service reports
- Conduct inspections, test drives, and quality checks after repairs
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and manufacturer specifications
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop environment
- Accurately record parts used and labour time on job cards
- Collaborate with workshop staff and report progress to the Service Manager
Requirements
- Qualified Diesel Technician (Red Seal / Trade Test Certificate)
- Minimum 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience on heavy-duty diesel vehicles or equipment
- Valid South African driver’s license (Code 8 or higher; Code 10 or 14 advantageous)
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic systems and repair tools (OEM experience beneficial)
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Good communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong safety awareness
