About the Role
Bilnor Staffing Solutions is seeking a skilled TIG Welder to join our team in Germiston. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for performing high-quality welds on various materials, including plate, pipe, sheet metal, and components. Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience in TIG welding, a strong understanding of material properties and weldability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform TIG (GTAW) welding on plate, pipe, sheet metal, and components according to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
- Prepare materials: cleaning, beveling, fit-up, and tack welding
- Fabricate components according to manufacturing standards and engineering drawings
- Execute high-precision welds in multiple positions and on various alloys (e.g., stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum)
- Conduct multi-pass TIG welding on structural and pressure-related components as required
- Inspect welds visually for defects and compliance with quality control requirements
- Ensure all welds meet relevant quality standards, codes, and tolerances
- Report defects and perform corrective actions when necessary
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, symbols, and welding schematics
- Complete job cards, production sheets, and welding logs accurately
Requirements
- Occupational Certificate: Welder (NQF Level 4) — SAQA ID 94100 or equivalent
- TIG/GTAW competency obtained through accredited training (as part of the official welding modules)
- Trade Test Certificate (advantageous or required based on company policy)
- Ability to pass company-specific welding tests (TIG plate/pipe tests)
- 2-5 years’ experience in TIG welding, with a focus on steel sector
- Proven experience in welding stainless steel, carbon steel, and other alloys using various techniques
Qualifications
- Matric or equivalent formal education
- Completed accredited welding training modules (TIG/GTAW)
