Job Description
Our client, a well-established organisation operating within the manufacturing industry, is seeking to employ an experienced Mechanical Foreman to join their Mechanical Engineering Department based in Heidelberg, Gauteng.
Requirements
- Trade tested Mechanical Engineering Artisan
- 10 years in Mechanical Artisan, Experience with steam, boilers, air, and effluent plant
- Computer Literacy, Supervisory skills and administrative ability
- Skills in the proper use of test and measuring equipment. Must be able to read and interpret drawings.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Control of Budget
- Ensure the leanest operation
Shift to Proactive Maintenance
- Insist on proactive jobs and move the mindset
- Assist in developing, implementing and monitoring preventative maintenance programs for mechanical system.
- Supervise the performance of emergency and routine maintenance in the production area.
- Performing spot checks of equipment to determine their working condition.
- Ensuring that highly skilled mechanical maintenance work is performed as required.
Resources Management
- Supervising mechanical workshop staff
- Providing basic training for employees as needed.
- Evaluating employee performance and providing direction, correction, or additional training to ensure proper maintenance of the machinery.
- Inspecting the assets frequently for signs of damage or wear
- Effective control of all resources at your disposal
- Assisting with emergency response and evacuations
- Overseeing contractors and inspecting completed jobs
Implement and Maintain 5S and Quantum Lean Methods
- To be discussed in morning meetings.
- Ensure all your boards are updated.
- Ensure suggestions are submitted during fishbowl meetings and small group activities, etc.
