About the Role
We are seeking a highly guest-focused Host I Duty Manager to join our boutique hotel in Ballito. As the face of the property, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional day-to-day guest experiences, leading service on shift, and supporting the team across departments. This is a hands-on, guest-facing role that requires presence, judgement, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the in-house guest experience during shift
- Welcome and engage with guests in a natural, professional, and personalised manner
- Anticipate guest needs and respond proactively
- Manage special requests, occasions, and guest preferences
- Handle guest concerns and service recovery calmly and effectively
- Ensure a strong, consistent hosting presence across all guest areas
- Oversee daily operations across Front Office, F&B, Housekeeping, and Spa during shift
- Support and guide team members on the floor
- Step in operationally where required to maintain service levels
- Coordinate effectively with all departments
- Monitor presentation of rooms, public areas, and dining spaces
- Maintain the correct ambiance across the property
- Conduct regular checks throughout the shift
- Assist with front office systems (Opera Cloud) and POS (Micros) where required
- Complete end-of-day procedures and night audit when scheduled
Requirements
Previous experience in a guest-facing hospitality role
Experience in a luxury or boutique hotel environment preferred
Basic understanding of hotel operations across departments
Familiarity with systems such as Opera Cloud and Micros advantageous
Naturally guest-focused with strong interpersonal skills
High attention to detail and awareness of surroundings
Calm under pressure with good decision-making ability
Hands-on and willing to support across all departments
