Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Junior Engineer for a manufacturing company based in Isando, Gauteng. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to production and supporting engineering projects and processes to ensure the manufacturing of quality products. Key

Responsibilities:

Industrialize and maintain product processes to ensure effective and goal-driven startups and process sustainability. Gather data and perform basic analysis to support production processes and engineering projects. Identify trends, issues, or areas for improvement. Ensure machine reliability as per the requirements of the setters. Monitor operations and implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain product quality. Control scrap (waste) objectives. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Identify process-related issues or problems and propose solutions. Ensure the effective use of equipment in line with company policies, production objectives, and the OHS Act. Maintain company assets in good working condition. Train electrical, setting, and processing teams on best practices for using tools and processes. Assist in the implementation of new systems or software to enhance productivity. Maintain detailed records of work processes, changes, and outcomes. Monitor and manage inventory of technical supplies and equipment. Order and purchase necessary equipment and materials as directed/required for daily use or projects. Ensure and enforce health and safety requirements in your area of responsibility. Maintain housekeeping standards and work safely, reporting on safety hazards or issues. Report any accidents, incidents, and near misses. Apply the company’s quality principles and standards. Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Apply the site’s food safety principles and standards. Report any food safety hazards or issues to your Supervisor/Manager. Comply with and maintain all GMPs in relation to the Company’s FSMS. Conduct a realistic assessment of own strengths and development areas and undertake actions to address weaknesses. Keep abreast of innovation and technical improvements for personal and company development. Foster teamwork and cooperation. Demonstrate self-management skills. Develop leadership and interpersonal relationships. Focus on product and service quality. Ensure the team knows what to do and where to find information if you are not available. Inform yourself about and apply the company`s principles and standards. Set an example and be a role model for your team and others in the way you work and behave. Qualifications and Experience: Secondary Education: Grade 12 Tertiary Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related technical field. Experience: 2-5 years relevant experience Competencies: Sound understanding of drawings. Fundamentals of fault finding and equipment testing. Knowledge of H&S and safe working procedures. Technical knowledge of processes, including equipment, raw materials, molds, and downstream equipment. Relevant quality system and certification as required. Administration skills. Problem-solving skills. Fault-finding skills. Installation of parts & related equipment. Good communication skills. Ability to act decisively and urgently. High level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. Project management skills. Software proficiency. Attention to detail. Passion for progressing a career in packaging with an appreciation for environmental concerns and impacts.
