Location: Bedfordview, Johannesburg, South Africa

Salary: Market Related (Between R480000 and R700000) p.a

Our client in the Civil/Building industry is looking to employ a Suitably Qualified and Experienced ESTIMATOR. Applicants must be aware of the strict requirements and the need for extensive travel.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure standard procedures are adhered to and any specific client requirements have been taken into account and attend on-site pre-bid/proposal conferences and site visits
• Prepare detailed accurate material, labour, equipment, subcontracts, construction facilities, etc. estimates
• Develop and review subcontractor scopes of work and accept, review, and analyze subcontractor quotes for best value
• Prepare project schedules, perform quantity take-offs and input quantities into estimating software
• Present cost estimates to meet Employers requirements, providing consideration for general and special conditions
• Foster relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
• Ensure all tender qualifications are identified and included in tender
• Review inquiry/ tender with Estimating Director and/or Managing Director as required prior to submission

Requirements

• The Estimator is responsible for preparing and finalization of cost estimates and tenders in response to inquiries with the aim of submitting the most competitive tender proposal
• BSc/B Eng./B-Tech/N Dip in Civil Engineering
• Minimum of 6 years’ “on site” working experience on Civil Engineering Construction Projects
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a Civil Engineering Construction Estimating office
• Advanced Proficiency in CCS estimating and planning modules
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, Power Point, Word, & Outlook)
• Ability to read, understand and organize construction Plans and Specifications
• Must be a South African Citizen, hold a valid Driver’s License and hold a South African Passport
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills and strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and with minimal structure while exercising great judgment
• Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
