Job Description

A leading company in the travel and tourism industry is seeking a Finance Manager to lead their financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight across the business. What Youll Do: Financial Leadership & Reporting: Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and Group standards, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and robust internal controls. Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis: Drive the annual budget cycle, rolling forecasts, and long-term planning while providing actionable financial insights to support strategic business decisions. Treasury & Cash Flow Management: Manage liquidity, banking relationships, payments, and receipts to safeguard business stability and operational efficiency. Compliance, Tax & Audit: Ensure adherence to South African statutory requirements, including VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, and coordinate internal and external audits. Operational & Commercial Support: Deliver financial analysis for pricing, promotions, and commercial initiatives, while collaborating with department heads to optimize performance. Team Leadership & Group Coordination: Lead, coach, and develop the finance team while acting as the key liaison to ensure alignment with group policies and reporting standards. Who You Are: Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. CA(SA), CIMA, or ACCA preferred. Minimum 5 years experience in financial management or accounting. Experience in travel, tourism, or hospitality is a plus. Strong financial reporting, IFRS knowledge, and South African tax expertise. Advanced Excel and ERP system skills. Minimum requirements: Education Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field Professional qualification such as CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA, or SAIPA (added advantage / often required) Experience Minimum of 58 years relevant experience in finance or accounting At least 35 years in a managerial or supervisory role Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and IFRS Proven experience in financial analysis, cash flow management, and cost control Proficiency in financial systems and accounting software (e.g. Pastel, SAP, Oracle, Sage, Buildsmart) Advanced MS Excel skills Key Competencies: Strong leadership and people management skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability High attention to detail and accuracy Strong communication and presentation skills Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Compliance & Governance: Knowledge of taxation, statutory compliance, and regulatory requirements Experience with audits (internal and external) Understanding of corporate governance and risk management Added Advantage: Experience in the Civil Engineering and Construction industry Postgraduate qualification (Honours / MBA) Operational Requirements: Responsibility for all journals and final GL balances including review of month end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts. Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reports for operational management. Take a lead role in the production of statutory accounts for the Group and its various subsidiary companies as and when required in accordance with the relevant accounting principles and the applicable legislative requirements. Assist with driving the year-end audit to conclusion and deal with auditor queries. Play a part in providing relevant & timely financial information to the Exco to enable a balanced and objective assessment of the Groups strategy and objectives. Budgets and forecasts: Play a part in the preparation of budgets, forecasts and business plans and continued monitoring. Financial management & controls: Ensure that debtors are invoiced timeously, and debt collection processes are followed and accurately documented in the debt management system. Report progress to the Chief Executive Officer on a weekly basis. Ensure monthly creditor and bank reconciliations are performed accurately and ready for review by the Chief Executive Officer. Releasing payments signed off by the Chief Executive Officer. Preparing monthly processing of payroll and payments to employees. Review fixed asset register for all companies in the group on a monthly basis and ensure accuracy and completeness of the content. Perform monthly reviews of work performed by financial personnel in Group companies and report findings to the Chief Executive Officer. Prepare accurate audited and signed financial statements, Bank Rating and Bank Confirmation letters. Taxation: Ensure returns for Corporation tax, VAT and other relevant taxes are submitted, payments made on time and all relevant regulations are complied with. General: Ensure the Chief Financial Officer is kept informed of industry developments, which are relevant to the operation of an efficient finance function. Carry out any further tasks for which your qualifications & experience are suited as directed by the Company as mutually agreed. Key Responsibilities Financial Control & Compliance Drive, enforce, and continuously improve internal financial controls Review, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Ensure compliance with: Companies Act SARS and related tax legislation IFRS and IFRS for SMEs All applicable current and future South African legislation Liaise with external auditors, accountants, and tax consultants Support annual audits and financial statement preparation Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models in collaboration with HODs Track budgets and forecasts vs actuals and prepare detailed variance analyses Perform scenario analysis and financial risk mitigation Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports Provide insightful financial commentary to Directors and senior management Cash Flow & Working Capital Management Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts Ensure healthy liquidity and positive operational cash flow Manage working capital effectively Maintain minimum four months total cash cover Cost Control & Operational Support Monitor manufacturing costs (raw materials, labour, overheads) Implement cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements Support operational teams with financial insights Accounting & Transactions Review weekly debtors age analysis, debtor days, and overdue accounts Approve transaction allocations and GL journals Review GL reconciliations and income statement allocations Review and maintain the Fixed Asset Register Approve foreign payments and act as bank signatory Review VAT reconciliations, submit VAT returns, and resolve SARS queries Systems & Process Management Ensure accurate and effective use of ERP and WMS systems Drive finance process improvements and automation Oversee stock takes and cycle counts to ensure accuracy Minimum Requirements Matric and relevant Finance qualification 6 to 10 years in a management role Strong inventory experience Strong understanding of IFRS and IFRS for SMEs Advanced Excel skills (financial modelling, analysis, reporting) Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Solid knowledge of financial statements and accounting principles Experience working with ERP systems Exposure to external audits and tax compliance Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
