About the Role
An established technology-focused organisation is seeking a senior Legal Counsel to lead intellectual property strategy, commercial contracting, and regulatory compliance across the business. The ideal candidate will be a commercially astute legal professional who thrives in a technology-driven environment and can operate confidently at both strategic and operational levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and protect the organisations IP portfolio (patents, designs, trademarks) across its full lifecycle
- Provide strategic legal input on technical and innovation-driven projects
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts
- Develop and implement legal strategies, policies, and compliance frameworks
- Monitor regulatory developments and manage legal risk
- Oversee legal governance and guide senior stakeholders
Requirements
- LLB degree (required)
- Minimum 8 years experience in IP law (patents & designs), commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge of litigation processes
- Engineering qualification (electrical/electronic) advantageous
Salary & Benefits
R55 000 to R60 000 CTC, plus:
