Our client is looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. This role combines bookkeeping, accounting support, and high-level administration, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work, and has a strong eye for detail. The successful candidate will support day-to-day financial operations while providing administrative assistance to senior leadership. Working closely with the Finance Manager, Managing Director, and CEO, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing reconciliations, supporting reporting processes, overseeing creditor and debtor functions, and ensuring the smooth administration of key operational activities. The role requires strong accounting knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. What You’ll Do Manage daily bookkeeping activities, cashbooks, journals, and ledger reconciliations Perform bank, supplier, insurance, and intercompany reconciliations Assist with customer invoicing and debtor administration Monitor and manage accounts payable and receivable Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports Review creditor payments for approval Process payroll and assist with statutory submissions Manage expense allocations, company credit cards, and travel-related costs Liaise with banks, suppliers, and third-party service providers Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes Support procurement activities through supplier quote comparisons and cost control initiatives Provide administrative support to senior leadership Assist with IT-related administrative queries and company phone contract administration What You Bring Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 3–5 years of experience in bookkeeping or a senior accounting support role Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls Proficiency in accounting systems such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, PaySpace, SimplePay, or similar platforms Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Experience with VAT reconciliations, PAYE, UIF, and COIDA submissions Strong administrative and organisational capabilities Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Strong written and verbal communication skills High levels of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism What Success Looks Like Accurate and timely financial records and reconciliations Efficient management of creditor and debtor functions Strong support for the finance and executive teams Compliance with financial and statutory requirements Well-organised administrative processes that support business operations Effective management of multiple priorities while meeting deadlines In line with the company’s employment equity objectives, preference may be given to suitably qualified candidates from designated groups.
