Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Imports Supervisor to oversee and manage our import activities. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent organizational capabilities, and a deep understanding of import/export processes, including seafreight and airfreight.
Key
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily import activities, ensuring safe, smooth, and efficient operations.
- Provide assistance to the Business Unit Manager with daily operations and staff supervision.
- Oversee the collection of clearance documents and supervise employees responsible for this function.
- Handle reefer shipments, inspections, and delivery processes.
- Resolve unbilled queries and debtor queries efficiently.
- Conduct daily meetings with staff to ensure departmental and client objectives are met.
- Manage complex shipments and work after hours or on weekends when required.
- Assist with the quality control of forwarding invoices and pro-forma invoices before final posting.
- Maximize customer satisfaction through effective coordination of forwarding, invoicing, customs, and related activities.
- Attend client visits and team meetings to ensure excellent client service.
- Manage staff performance reports and client status reports.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in import/export, seafreight, airfreight, or forwarding.
- Proven experience in a supervisory role.
- Excellent computer literacy, particularly in Outlook and Excel.
- Advanced knowledge of CargoWise.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to lead and manage staff effectively.
- Sound working knowledge of state vet-related documents, road freight, and rail industry.
- Excellent knowledge of national ports and their operations.
- Matric/Grade 12 is required; a relevant tertiary qualification is highly advantageous.
