Job Description

About the Role

The Buyer (Manufacturing) position is a key role in our manufacturing department, responsible for sourcing and procurement of goods, machinery, equipment, raw materials, and parts to meet internal consumption needs. The ideal candidate will have excellent purchasing skills, strong negotiation abilities, and the ability to work cross-functionally within a matrix organisational team structure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Purchase goods, machinery, equipment, raw materials, and parts for internal consumption
  • Handle all purchasing functions and responsibilities
  • Adhere to project requirements, identify cost savings, and expedite deliveries
  • Forecast levels of demand for services and products to meet business needs and keep a constant check on stock levels
  • Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments, and customers to ensure suppliers are aware of business objectives
  • Identify potential suppliers, visit existing suppliers, build, and maintain good relationships with them
  • Negotiate and agree contracts and monitor their progress, checking the quality of service provided
  • Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules, and quality

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Buyer role
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans
  • Sound communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and multitask
  • Driver’s Licence
  • Leadership Skills
  • Good understanding of accruals and cut off dates
