Job Description

This role requires proven experience within the engineering, infrastructure, or construction consulting environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the full tender lifecycle while ensuring compliance, quality, and strategic alignment across submissions. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Proposal Manager will oversee bid identification, go/no-go assessments, proposal preparation, compliance tracking, and submission coordination. The role requires strong commercial awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to engage confidently with Directors, technical teams, and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Tender & Proposal Management: Identify and assess tender opportunities, including scope, timelines, fee structures and compliance requirements Lead go/no-go processes and present recommendations to Directors Prepare and coordinate high-quality bid submissions including methodology, team structures, pricing, credentials and contractual inputs Attend tender briefings and manage clarification processes Present draft submissions to Directors for review and approval Compliance & Administration: Track and maintain all company compliance documentation (AFS, CSD, CIPC, SARS, PI, CVs, company profiles, B-BBEE, etc.) Ensure that documentation is updated, complete and submission-ready Maintain proposal trackers, reporting schedules and internal controls Business Development Support: Conduct market research on projects, clients and sector opportunities Coordinate meetings and liaise with partners, consortium members and suppliers Support broader business development and operational initiatives Contribute to brand positioning and ensure professional representation in the market Requirements: Experience: Proven experience as a Proposal Manager / Bid Manager within the engineering, infrastructure, or construction consulting sector (non-negotiable) Strong understanding of public and private sector tender processes Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary technical teams Skills & Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Strong organisational and documentation control capability Behavioural Profile: Professional, diplomatic and solutions-oriented Confident engaging with Directors and senior technical professionals Proactive, structured and deadline-driven High integrity and strong alignment with corporate governance standards This opportunity is suited to a detail-driven and commercially minded proposal professional seeking a leadership role within a respected engineering and construction advisory environment.
