About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Road Freight Controller to join our team in Sandton, Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and planning all local procured cargoes and road freight to DRC for in-gauge and out of gauge (abnormal) cargoes. This role requires a strong understanding of the import/export process in Southern Africa, as well as proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinating and planning of all local procured cargoes and road freight to DRC for in-gauge and out of gauge (abnormal) cargoes.
- Coordinating and planning import RIT & RIB clearance for sea freight shipments, monitoring shipment to ensure that containers do not incur demurrage costs.
- Liaising with the various Suppliers / LSP to ensure timeous upliftment of cargo.
- Planning of loads and maximising truck capacity to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Booking of trucks and sending out pre-alerts timeously.
- Arranging Marine Insurance / surveyor inspection when required.
- Tracking all shipments and updating reports accordingly.
- Monitoring POD and sending to client as proof of receipt.
- Ensuring accuracy and timeline of RFQ.
- Ensuring all payment to LSP is done 15 days upon receipt of full documents.
- Requesting and checking new supplier required documents.
- Ensuring all documents for all shipments are uploaded and saved on the SharePoint and hard copies kept where necessary.
- Completing processing of contracts until signed by both parties.
Requirements
- Minimum college education background; additional qualification of supply chain will be preferred.
- At least 3 years of proven experience in the logistics field and understanding of various shipping Incoterms.
- Geographical knowledge of Southern Africa and the import/export process.
- Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Efficient when working in a fast-paced environment.

Salary & Benefits
Basic salary of between R 25,000.00 to R 35,000.00 on offer, negotiable with benefits to be discussed.
