About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Road Freight Controller to join our team in Sandton, South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and planning all local procured cargoes and road freight to DRC for in-gauge and out of gauge (abnormal) cargoes, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinating and planning import RIT & RIB clearance for sea freight shipments
- Monitoring shipment to ensure that containers do not incur demurrage costs
- Liaising with suppliers and logistics service providers (LSPs) to ensure timeous upliftment of cargo
- Planning loads and maximising truck capacity to meet deadlines
- Booking trucks and sending out pre-alerts in a timely manner
- Arranging marine insurance and surveyor inspection when required
- Tracking all shipments and updating reports accordingly
- Monitoring Proof of Delivery (POD) and sending it to clients as proof of receipt
- Ensuring accuracy and timeline of Requests for Quotation (RFQ)
- Processing contracts until signed by both parties
- Resolving queries in a timely and efficient manner
Requirements
- At least a college education background
- Additional qualification in supply chain management preferred
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience in the logistics field
- Understanding of various shipping Incoterms
- Geographical knowledge of Southern Africa and the import/export process
- Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint)
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task

- Basic salary of between R 25,000.00 to R 35,000.00 on offer
