Our client, a leading player in the construction industry, is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maximizing project profitability, ensuring contractual compliance, and managing commercial risks. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong negotiation skills and a proven track record in the construction sector.
Requirements:
- BSc Hons. degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying
- 10+ years of post-graduate experience in the construction industry
- Proficiency in Buildsmart System and Construction Computer Software (CCS)
- Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and standard contract documents
- SACQSP professional registration is essential
- Experience in design-build/EPC projects and project finance structuring
- Proven ability in commercial and business risk analysis
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, negotiate, and finalize contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure favorable terms and compliance with legal and project requirements
- Oversee contract execution, manage variations, and ensure adherence to agreed terms
- Monitor project expenses, control cost overruns, and ensure projects remain within budget
- Prepare and present regular financial reports to senior management, highlighting risks and opportunities
- Resolve claims and disputes with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve favorable outcomes
- Collaborate closely with project planners to optimize claims opportunities
- Lead commercial risk analysis and contribute to business development and strategic planning
