Job Summary

Key responsibilities: Develop a project plan to monitor and track progress Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques Track programme metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), analysing data to evaluate programme effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Conduct programme reviews, lessons learned sessions, and postimplementation assessments to capture insights and best practices. Resolve conflicts, challenges, and barriers to progress within the programme and across projects. Monitor program performance, project dependencies, budgets, risks, and issues to ensure benefits realisation. Take proactive measures to mitigate potential challenges. Manage cross-functional teams, stakeholder engagement, and governance across projects. Define programme objectives, scope, and deliverables in alignment with organizational strategy and goals. Develop comprehensive programme plans, schedules, budgets and maintain project documentation Identify and prioritise projects within the programme portfolio based on strategic importance and resource constraints. Lead and motivate cross-functional project teams, providing guidance, direction, and support as needed. Foster collaboration and communication among project teams, ensuring integration and coherence across projects. Ensure the successful delivery of projects while adhering to the organisations governance processes. Confirm specific projects upon the appointment of the vendor. Perform risk management to minimise project risks by maintaining a comprehensive risk register and issue list. Manage stakeholder relationships and expectations, ensuring alignment with programme objectives and priorities. Report on the relevant Governance structure including: Completing weekly flash report. Prepare submission to project Steering Committees etc. Prepare monthly forecasts. Prepare monthly reports. Communicate programme status, updates, and issues to stakeholders, including senior management and executive leadership. Lead and manage end-to-end delivery of digital transformation programs across multiple business units. Oversee the identification, prioritisation, and execution of digital initiatives that drive operational efficiency and innovation. Drive adoption of emerging technologies (AI, IoT, RPA, Cloud) to solve complex business challenges. Perform project close-out activities as stipulated by the Project lifecycle model. Required qualifications: IT Qualification or any other related project management qualifications AND certifications. Minimum of 8 years experience in managing digital transformation programs in large organisations projects.

Job Summary

We are looking for Seasoned X3 Senior Programme Managers who will be responsible for delivering Agile, Waterfall, and Business-as-Usual (BAU) projects while ensuring adherence to the core project management constraints of cost, time, and quality. Known for delivering strategic initiatives on time and within budget while aligning programme goals with business objectives. Adept at managing cross-functional teams, mitigating risks, and driving stakeholder engagement to ensure programme success. What you’ll do: Lead and manage complex, large-scale programmes across multiple functions or business units. Ensure successful delivery of engineering, infrastructure, or energy-related projects in line with strategic objectives. Oversee the full project lifecycle, from initiation through to closure, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Develop and maintain detailed programme and project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies. Track and report on KPIs and performance metrics to ensure accountability and programme health. Drive continuous improvement through proactive risk and issue management. Coordinate and manage cross-functional internal teams and external third-party vendors. Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, including government entities, regulatory bodies, and internal leadership. Facilitate effective communication and alignment across all stakeholder groups. Implement and adhere to governance frameworks suitable for public sector or SOE contexts. Prepare and present comprehensive programme reports for executive oversight and compliance. Ensure all activities meet regulatory and organizational standards. Utilize project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera, or equivalents for planning and tracking. Apply best-practice methodologies (e.g., PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile) based on project context and organizational standards. Promote standardisation and best practices in project execution and delivery. Your expertise: Programme Project Management: 10 years of experience in project and programme management. Proven track record managing large-scale, multi-disciplinary programmes across different functions or business units. Experience in managing complex infrastructure, engineering, or energy-related projects would be a major advantage. Monitoring Control: Demonstrated experience in: Developing detailed project and programme plans. Managing scope, schedules, budgets, and risk. Setting up and tracking KPIs and performance metrics. Stakeholder Management: Experience coordinating cross-functional internal teams and third-party vendors. Ability to engage, influence, and manage senior stakeholders across government, regulatory bodies, and internal teams. Governance Reporting: Strong knowledge of governance frameworks and project reporting, especially in a public sector or SOE (State-Owned Enterprise) context. Tools Methodologies: Familiarity with project management tools like MS Project, Primavera, or similar. Solid grounding in PM methodologies (e.g., PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile frameworks depending on Eskom’s adopted methodology). Qualifications required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management or a related field. Postgraduate qualification (MBA or Project Management) is a plus. Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional), PgMP (Program Management Professional), or PRINCE2 Practitioner. Agile or Lean Six Sigma certifications (advantageous).
